Shop Capabilities

Full In-House Capability

Most rebuild shops subcontract the work they can't do themselves — gear cutting, precision boring, dynamic balancing. We invested in the equipment to do all of it in-house. The result is a single 40,000 sq ft facility with complete control over every phase of your rebuild, from initial teardown and inspection through final load testing and documentation.

Why In-House Matters

When a critical gearbox fails, every hour of downtime costs money. Shops that subcontract machining, gear cutting, or balancing add days to your turnaround. At Industrial Machine Rebuilders, our complete in-house capability means we control every step — from teardown to load test — and we move at the speed your operation demands.

Discuss Your Job

No Subcontracting

Every operation — machining, gear cutting, balancing, testing — is performed in our shop by our people. No waiting on outside vendors, no quality gaps between shops.

50+ Years of Expertise

Three generations of precision machining and rebuild experience. We've seen every failure mode, every obsolete unit, and every tight-tolerance challenge the industry can produce.

Emergency Turnaround

Critical breakdowns get priority scheduling. Our 24/7 availability and fully stocked shop mean we can mobilize immediately when your operation can't wait.

36-Month Warranty

Every rebuild is backed by our industry-leading 36-month warranty from date of installation — because we stand behind the quality of our work.

Equipment & Facilities

Six Fully Equipped Shop Areas

Heavy CNC Machine Shop

Shop Area 01

Heavy CNC Machine Shop

Our machine shop is purpose-built for large, heavy industrial components. CNC lathes with swing capacity to 72", horizontal boring mills, vertical turret lathes, and surface grinders handle the shafts, housings, and bores that most shops simply can't touch. Every machine is maintained to tight calibration standards so your parts come back right the first time.

Equipment

  • CNC lathes — up to 72" swing, 240" between centers
  • Horizontal boring mill — 4" spindle, full 4-axis
  • Vertical turret lathe — up to 72" diameter
  • Surface grinders — up to 24" x 72"
  • Cylindrical OD/ID grinder — up to 24" diameter
  • Radial arm drill press — up to 6" diameter holes
  • Keyway broaching and slotting
  • Thread cutting — inch and metric
Gear Cutting & Grinding

Shop Area 02

Gear Cutting & Grinding

Dedicated gear cutting equipment for spur, helical, bevel, worm, herringbone, and internal ring gears. We cut to print or reverse-engineer from worn originals — in steel, stainless, bronze, and specialty alloys. When OEM gears are obsolete or unavailable, we manufacture exact replacements with full AGMA documentation.

Equipment

  • Gear hobbers — up to 70" diameter, 20 DP
  • Gear shapers — up to 36" diameter
  • Bevel gear generators — spiral and straight
  • Worm gear milling and grinding
  • Gear grinding — AGMA Class 12 capability
  • Spline cutting — inch and metric
  • Full AGMA inspection and documentation
  • Reverse engineering from worn originals
Dynamic Balancing

Dynamic Balancing

Unbalance is a primary driver of vibration, bearing wear, and premature failure. Our in-house dynamic balancing capability handles rotors, impellers, fans, armatures, and complete assemblies — balancing to ISO 1940 G1 or better where required. Every job includes a full before-and-after balance report.

Equipment

  • Horizontal balancing machine — up to 20,000 lb
  • Two-plane dynamic balancing
  • ISO 1940 G1 and G2.5 capability
  • Overspeed balancing available
  • Pump impellers and fan rotors
  • Motor armatures and turbine rotors
  • Flywheel and coupling assemblies
  • Full balance certification with every job
Load Testing & Quality Assurance

Shop Area 04

Load Testing & Quality Assurance

Every rebuilt gearbox and major assembly is load-tested before it leaves our shop. We verify bearing temperatures, vibration levels, and oil flow under operating conditions — so you know it's right before it goes back in service. Full documentation is provided with every job.

Equipment

  • Gearbox load test
  • Vibration analysis — route-based and real-time
  • Infrared thermography — bearing and winding
  • CMM dimensional inspection
  • Magnetic particle and dye penetrant inspection
  • Ultrasonic thickness measurement
  • Insulation resistance and winding testing
  • Hydraulic bench pressure testing to rated spec
Hydraulic Rebuild & Testing

Shop Area 05

Hydraulic Rebuild & Testing

Complete in-house hydraulic rebuild capability covering cylinders, pumps, motors, PTOs, and power units. We hone bores, replace seals to OEM spec, inspect valve bodies, and bench-test every unit under pressure before return to service. Aircraft jacks, railcar jacks, and specialty hydraulic tooling are all within our scope.

Equipment

  • Hydraulic cylinder honing — up to 60" bore
  • Bench pressure testing to 50.000 PSI
  • Piston, vane, and gear pump rebuild
  • Hydraulic motor reconditioning
  • PTO and valve body rebuild
  • HPU assembly and testing
  • Aircraft jack and railcar jack repair
  • Seal kit replacement — custom, OEM and aftermarket
Fabrication & Welding
06

Fabrication & Welding

Custom fabrication and structural welding for housings, frames, bases, and custom components. When a casting is cracked or a housing is damaged beyond standard repair, our fabrication capability provides options that eliminate costly replacement lead times.

Equipment

  • MIG, TIG, and stick welding
  • Cast iron welding and repair
  • Structural steel fabrication
  • Custom base and frame fabrication
  • Housing repair and build-up
  • Plasma cutting and forming
  • Stainless and aluminum welding
  • Weld inspection and documentation
